Interested in learning to play djembe but can't get to Decatur on a weeknight? Rhythm Synergy has drums and will travel. We have time slots available on Monday and Wednesday evenings and on weekends. (Weeekday groups are also possible). All it takes is a classroom space and a minimum of 5 people to start. So if you know of a yoga studio, community clubhouse, or other spot in your neighborhood that is appropriate for drum class, grab 4 friends and give Rhythym Synergy a call.

And if you are the owner of a yoga or dance studio, or similar activity space and would like to add drumming to the programming at your studio, please contact us!

Learn to drum in a FUN, welcoming, COMMUNITY atmosphere.

Even if you’ve never touched a drum before, a drumming class is a great way to reduce stress, have fun, and get relaxed and energized all at the same time! And did you know drumming in a group has been shown to positively affect your immune system? Drumming is a fun and health-ful activity for the whole family.

Both Amy and Colleen are Certified Associate Instructors with Tam-Tam Mandingue Winston-Salem, part of the international network of West African drumming schools founded by Guinean master drummer, Mamady Keita. We use a step by step pedagogy to introduce students to traditional rhythms and good playing technique. No prior musical experience is necessary. Our view is that anyone can access the experience of group music-making through the djembe. It’s not about performance or perfection – it’s about community connection and fun!

Monday classes with Amy are especially for beginners.
Tuesday djembe classes with Colleen are for beginners and also recommended for advanced-beginner/intermediate students who wish to achieve greater clarity in their tones and slaps, and/or step into leadership roles such as playing dununs, echauffements, and breaks.
